Spring Fling Blog Hop

Spring Fling Blog Hop

I am so excited to be part of the Spring Fling Blog hop hosted by Bitten By Romance, Lusty Penguin Reviews, Reading Between The Wines, Booked & Loaded, I Smell Sheep, Urban Girl Reader, and Got Fiction.

My post is an excerpt from my current WIP, Waking Up In Chains. This is book two in my Arcadian Veil Series and is due out this summer. Book one, Waking Up In Bedlam, is available now. I am giving away a digital copy of Waking Up In Bedlam and of Criminal Behavior (two short stories, one written by me, the other written by Alexandra Webb) as a prize for this Blog Hop. Instructions on how to enter will be posted at the bottom of this post.

AND there is a Rafflecopter giveaway from the hosts of the blog hop (link is listed below) for a $70 giftcard to Amazon OR Barnes & Noble.

Excerpt- Waking Up In Chains (WIP/unedited):

His head bobbed up and down for a moment without saying a word. He looked lost, unsure, betrayed, all of the things she would imagine feeling if someone had told her that her entire life was a lie. Finally he lifted his head. “Who are you?”

Her mouth curled into a little smile. “My name is Isabeau Eóghan. And you are?”

“Bastian… Bastian Romani.” He paused. “I guess that’s not really my last name, but it’s the only one I’ve got for now.”

Her ears perked up hearing the growing shouts and singing coming from the gypsy camp. “It’s nice to meet you, Bastian.”

He stood up and she quickly looked away. He finally realized he was fully exposed and laughed. “Sorry about that.” She could here him moving around and then cleared his throat. “Okay, it’s safe to look now.”

She turned back around and he was standing in the moon light with a pair of brown linen pants on. They tied around his waist but hung low on his hips exposing his muscular build and amazingly cut abs. “What are they going to do to us now?”

He held out a hand to her and waited to help her to her feet. “Nothing, because you are going to escape from here and never look back.”

“What? I can’t do that, you have to come with me.”

“I can’t. I have to stay, if I leave they won’t stop hunting for either of us. But maybe I can hold them off if I stay.”

“No, what they are doing to you is wrong, Bastian. You can’t stand for it.”

“I have to. Real or not, these are the only family I have. I hate most of them but there are some who aren’t so bad.”

His finger pressed against her lips to quiet her. “Isabeau, I have a feeling I have done terrible things. Unforgivable things. I don’t deserve my freedom, but I wont let you suffer another moment longer.”

Her stomach fluttered. Why did he have to talk like that? He was forced to do those horrible things that he couldn’t remember. It wasn’t his fault, but she couldn’t say that because then she would have to tell him what she knew. How much more could she destroy his world in one day? Instead she shook her head and stepped closer. “Everyone deserves a second chance. Please come with me, Bastian.”

“I can’t. I’m sorry.” It was him that took a step closer this time. She wanted to sigh at the feel of his warm chest pressed against her. His hands slipped to her waist and then wrapped around her. “But there is one thing…”

He dipped his head down, capturing her mouth with his. She raised up on her tippy-toes and wrapped her arms around his neck. His tongue teased her mouth until she parted her lips for him. Her entire body warmed as he deepened the kiss.

She wasn’t sure what was happening, if it was him or her own powers, but something was repairing the damage to her wings. She could feel the healing waves washing over her, stitching the open wounds back together, her gossamer wings slowly coming back. She gasped against his lips and he pulled back to stare wide-eyed at her wings. “How’d that happen?”

“Magic.” It was the only answer she could give.

He smiled at the response and cupped her cheek in his hand. “Good, then you will have the strength to run. No arguing with me, Isabeau, you have to run.”

Since Spring is the theme of this hop leave a comment telling me what your favorite thing about Spring time is to be entered for a chance to win a free download of both Waking Up In Bedlam (Paranormal Romance) and Criminal Behavior (two Erotic Short Stories). • It is still cold down in the high desert in the Springtime too, we are currently getting all the snow we should have gotten in December. Then we will have a heatwave of 80 degrees then it will be back to snow. I can’t wait to wear flip flops instead of snow boots.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    • We get snow in June and July in this area, so unfortunately our boots and coats can’t go too far, you never know when we might need them. Thanks for stopping by!
