Paranormal creatures have stepped into the light of the human world and with them comes a dark secret. The Syndicate Council controls the mafia families and all organized crime, but there is something worse on the horizon.

The Agency was put in place to police the paranormal mafia for the protection of mankind in a way that human law enforcement isn’t able to. Their missions revolve creating a safe world for both humans and paranormal beings to coexist peacefully, but behind the curtain a more sinister plan is put into place by an ancient radical leader determined to regain his lost power.

Who can stop a demigod hell bent on creating a new empire and crushing those he feels are beneath him?

The paranormal mafia has the answer: The Syndicate.

Despite the façade of crime and corruption, the Syndicate uses the mafia to keep balance in a brutal world torn apart by crime, hatred, segregation, and corruption. Their goal: To take down The Agency at all costs.

Mind Games:

Agency or Syndicate? Most witches are freelance, but being a psychic witch makes Reagan Silas valuable to the Agency’s Protection and Security Division which is home to the Psychic Interrogation Unit. Since the supernatural world made itself known to the humans a few short years ago, the Agency and their mission of helping control the supernatural while protecting the humans, has been her only purpose in life. Untrained in physical magic, Reagan’s talents as a witch are only a benefit in the Mindscape of those she interrogates for the Agency.  Her world is upended when her interrogation of the Alpha of the O’Conner pack goes terribly wrong. When all fingers point to Reagan she is faced with a cold hard truth; she’s alone in this world. Without the Agency what is she?

Liam O’Conner, alpha of his pack, never expected to find himself wanting to protect the woman who tried to use his dead wife against him in his own mind. But after he is injured during her interrogations he gets word of the Agency suspending Reagan, and he makes it his mission to stay close. The person responsible for his injuries during Reagan’s interrogation is still on the loose and Liam knows it’s only a matter of time before this other psychic takes him out. Reagan is his best chance at survival and salvation. Can he make her see what the Agency is really up to? Or will she never get over her past trauma with werewolves to trust him?

Exclusive Excerpt of Code Name: Fox by A.L. Kessler

The elevator doors opened and he stepped out taking her down a long hall and finally into an office room. At the round conference table sat paranormal creatures of all kinds most of them appeared to be human, but the energy in the room raised the hairs on her body.

“Caught our intruder. Someone was fucking stupid enough to leave their login information lying around. When I find out who it was, I will pin them to my table for dinner.” He snarled and threw her on the table.

Skye shrank back, trying to decide what to do. Her mind raced to check her available exits and calculate her chances of getting out and surviving. Six creatures surrounded the table, all the scents mixing to keep her from telling what all was there.

The man at the head of the table grabbed her by the neck. His silver hair caught the lighting in the room. His swirling misty eyes pierced her gaze. “Change back little fox.”

Energy crackled between them, and she cried out as her fox form disappeared and her human one took shape. She panted, trying to catch her breath from the forced shift and clear the pain in her bones and muscles. Had she not been so shocked by the transformation, she would have cried. What the hell was he?

His fingers still dug into her neck, keeping her off the ground. Her toes brushed against the cold tile of the floor. “We have a little Agency spy. Zeek, you caught her, you get to do the interrogation.”

She glanced at the vampire who had caught her. A wicked smirk crossed his face allowing his fangs to peek out from under his lips and his eyes flooded to red. She was in trouble. Big trouble. She had no idea if the Agency would send someone after her or not, or if they’d just let her die at the hands of these monsters.

“It’d be my pleasure, boss.”  He grabbed her hair and yanked her away from the creature holding her. “Come on little fox, trust me, you don’t want to stay in here.”  He forced her out of the room and into the hall.

Humiliation at being dragged through the hallway flooded through her as he dragged her naked body back to the elevator. He slammed his thumb onto the down button and waited. She tried to pull away, but he tightened his grip. “You’re not going anywhere.”

“Let me go; I didn’t get anything. I promise I won’t return.” At this point, she was thinking another career change was needed.

“Oh little fox, it doesn’t work that way. The only way you’re getting out of here is if you give me the information I need, or in a body bag. The choice is yours.”

When most kids go to college, they think freedom, excitement, and maybe they are just a bit terrified. My experience was different. In addition to getting to know the new roommate and some serious test anxiety, I found out I was the daughter of Death. But learning that three others and I are supposed to stop the apocalypse from happening was more than just a little terrifying. The world may be ending and angels, demons and horsemen have become part of my everyday life, things suddenly seem impossible. I am Sammy Zadkeil and I am a Child of the Apocalypse.

000000000000000

A lone figure stood to our left, his back to us. His black robe billowed in the howling winds. His brown hair moved with the air and wrapped in his arms was a scythe, as if he was leaning on it during a hug.

Death.

My gaze moved back to Ruthie and she nodded and motioned towards him. “Go.”

“Alone?” I whispered, my eyes wide. I’d never met him, like hell I was just going to walk up. What was I supposed to say? Death chuckled. “I can hear you. Ruthie, I didn’t expect you to bring a friend. I wanted to speak to you specifically.”

“Sorry, my friend is my charge. Perhaps you heard?” She offered, and we both took a few steps towards him. He spun around. His face was angular and his pupils had skulls in them. My heart stopped at the sight of him. I had expected myself to be filled with hatred if I ever met my father, but now…now I wasn’t sure what the emotion flooding through me was.

“Pest, Famine, and War told me what the boys were up to. I didn’t know you were playing a part in it. What did you learn?” His gaze fell to me and the smirk he wore disappeared.

“Impossible.”

“So…I’m your daughter, apparently, and my mother was an angel at some point in life…my name’s Sammy.” I waved my hands around like an idiot as I talked. It sounded stupid, but it was the best I had at the moment.

He walked around me and I could feel his gaze studying. “Yeah, you’re mine all right.”

Neon signs anyone? I kept my sarcasm down for the moment. I bit my lip as I stared up at him. I couldn’t help but wonder where he had disappeared to and why he didn’t think to look for me himself. Why were Pete, Aeron and Kaleb given the task? I clenched my fist.

“What is it?” He asked, his voice even.

I tried to think about how I wanted to word it. “Where the hell have you been for the last eighteen years?”

His eyes widened slightly. “I didn’t know you existed.”

“Yet, at least four other people thought to come find me, and you sat here, not even curious as to why you couldn’t knock up another angel?” I growled through my locked jaw.

He raised a brow. “I assumed it wasn’t my time to have a child and I thought that War and Pest had lost it and were on a wild goose chase.”

“This is too much.” I turned away from him. “Demons, horsemen, fallen angels, and a long lost father.” I shook my head. “No.”

“No?” Death asked.

“No. I’m not doing this. Send me back home.” I snapped.

Ruthie stepped up and put a hand on my shoulder. I pulled away. “Sammy, we can’t do that. We need to figure out what is going on and the first step is here, with your dad.”

“A dad isn’t someone who just pops into your life. This isn’t about reconciling with family, it’s about all the crazy stuff that I’ve been dragged into in the course of two days.”

“I know,” Ruthie kept her voice even and faced me. “But you’re not going to face this alone. You’re not going in alone. We are here to help. All of us. For now, let’s just focus on the here and now.”

I took a deep breath and tried to push all the anger and confusion out of the way. I could get used to Death being my father, I could handle demons and crazy things…maybe.

“So…now what?” I asked after a moment of silence.

“Now we start training you on your job. The boys can be called back now that we know you exist.” He came to a stop in front of me. He let the scythe fall from his hand, and like Aeron’s sword it disappeared. He wrapped his arms around me and held me close.

I didn’t know what I expected, but he was warm against me and wrapped in his arms I had the feeling of being home. I belonged there, with him, and some of my anger melted away. I wrapped my arms around him and took comfort in his embrace. For a moment, I forgot about the demon and the crazy math teacher.

He let go and looked down at me. “Had I known, I would have come for you sooner. Your mother never even tried to contact me.”

“I have a feeling she’s going to be as shocked as you are.” I glanced at Ruthie. “Though there’s a reason we were going to contact you.”

He turned to the angel. “Yes?”

“Famine is missing, and judging by the plague that’s about to wipe out a fourth of the United States, Pest is missing as well.”

Death’s eyes snapped back to me and I held my hands up. “I swear I have nothing to do with that part.”

He gave a bob of his head. “I’ve noticed their presences were weak. They are still alive, but not on this plane of existence. It’s why I called you here. I wanted a status on what was going on. Them disappearing from both planes means one thing…”

“They’ve been sealed away again.” Ruthie snarled. “I was worried about that. There’s been more demon activity lately, we had a demon show up at the school.” He paced back and forth for a moment. “You and Sammy work with the boys to figure out what is going on. I’ll do what I can from my realm, here. If need be, I’ll come help you fight, but once you figure out where the seals are you let me know. I’ll be the one to release them.”

“Sammy is going to need to learn to fight and control her abilities when she gets them.” He glanced at me and a small smile crossed his lips. “We have her come here to work with me. After classes and when her mother’s not around. I don’t want to involve her.”

“That won’t be a problem, I chose the college farthest away from home that I could get in state.” I shrugged. “I wanted to make sure she didn’t go all mama bear and visit every weekend.”

They both laughed. Death put a pale hand on my shoulder. “Then you’ll come here and I’ll teach you. Like I should have been since you were a child.”

“I guess it’s time I decide that this isn’t a dream.”

“Far from it. We’ll start tomorrow.” He looked to Ruthie. “Keep her safe until then. Keep an eye out for the Sins.”

“The Sins?” I asked.

Ruthie nodded. “How much do you know about the Seven Deadly Sins?”

“If you’re lucky, I might be able to name them.”

Ruthie put the palm of her hand to her head. Death sighed. “The Seven Deadly Sins are high level demons. They work closely with the Devil in causing havoc. I can promise you if the other three horsemen disappeared, they have something to do with it.”

Wasn’t that a pleasant thought. “Lust, Envy, Sloth, Gluttony, Pride, Wrath and Greed.” I muttered.

“If all seven of them get together in the same place…” Ruthie whistled. “Chaos, think about it like a frat party gone nuclear.”

I didn’t want to think about it, I was still trying to wrap my head around everything. “So how do we stop them?”

“We fight against them.” She said easily.

Eyes Wide Open by Lucy Felthouse

Eyes Wide Open by Lucy Felthouse

A standalone novel from the Totally Five Star imprint.

An ordinary girl catapulted into an extraordinary world meets two even more extraordinary men—but what will she do when she discovers their sexy secret?

Fiona Gillespie moved to London shortly after graduating to take advantage of the opportunities the capital could offer. However, months later, she’s still living in a horrid flat and working in a grimy East End pub. The problem is, she doesn’t really know what she wants to do, career-wise. So when she happens upon an advertisement for a job at a plush Mayfair hotel, she jumps at the chance. A great deal of determination and a spot of luck land Fiona her dream role.

But working at the Totally Five Star London is just the beginning. She adores the role and flourishes, impressing her bosses and making her increasingly determined to climb the career ladder.

While her career is flying, though, her love life is non-existent. She hasn’t even thought about men, never mind met or dated one for months, so when she bumps into two gorgeous businessmen in the hotel, she’s surprised to find her head has been well and truly turned. Even more surprisingly, they flirt with her—both of them! She’s drawn to James and Logan, despite feeling that they’re way out of her league.

When a misunderstanding leads Fiona to James and Logan’s sumptuous top-floor suite, she has no idea what she’s about to uncover. Scenes of people-trafficking, drug-pushing and wild sex parties all appear in her active imagination. Yet what she actually sees is something she’d never even considered before, something that piques her interest.

After discovering their sexy secret, what will she do with this new-found knowledge?

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of anal play, spanking, sex toys and bondage.

Excerpt:

Continuing to surreptitiously peer at the men over the rim of her glass, it hit her that this was the first time in months that she’d looked at a man with interest, much less two men—and at the same time! But, ready to snatch her gaze away if one of them happened to glance at her, she realized that it wasn’t surprising that the pair had attracted her attention.

The tailored business suits would draw the eye even on an ugly guy. But on these two, the fine clothing was practically an orgasm for the gaze. They sat opposite each other, and their angle to her meant that she had a view of both their profiles—lucky her.

The one to her right had very dark, almost black hair, with a bit of a curl to it, a long straight nose, a trimmed goatee and, if she wasn’t mistaken, deep blue eyes. It was hard to tell for sure from this distance and perspective.

The one on her left had lighter, shorter hair, stubble that by some magical feat still looked smart, and the most sinful lips she’d ever set eyes on. And speaking of eyes, she thought perhaps his were green. What she wouldn’t give to go and check both of them out close up, preferably naked.

Shocked at her own sudden lustful thoughts, she inhaled more than drank another sip of the juice. Unfortunately, it hit her throat all wrong and she almost slammed the glass down as she started to cough. She tried so hard to suppress the cough, eager not to draw attention to herself, that she made it worse. Snatching up the thick linen serviette from the table, she held it to her mouth as she spluttered in a most embarrassing manner, and tears began to roll down her cheeks. By now, she was sure that the whole damn restaurant was staring at her, and she wished the tablecloths reached the floor, like the ones in the restaurant upstairs, so she could hide under the table until she regained her composure.

Swallowing repeatedly to try to soothe her irritated throat, she gasped as a gentle hand laid on her shoulder, which set her off all over again.

“Oh God,” came a voice. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to make you jump. I just wanted to make sure you were all right. See if I could help.”

Unable to speak, Fiona waved a hand to try to signal that she’d be okay, but unless the guy was a mind reader, he’d have no luck figuring that out. Blinking through the tears that marred her vision, her urge to hide underneath the table grew stronger. Christ, it was only the hottie with the blue eyes. And, if she wasn’t mistaken, his sexy friend with the green eyes was also hovering close by, concern etched into his handsome features.

Managing to drag in a breath, she huffed out, “Thank you.”

Just then, Jeremy arrived with a carafe of water, complete with ice, and poured her a glassful. “Here you go, Fiona. Drink this. Are you all right? Anything else I can get you?”

Lexie backed up a step.

“Now, now. Don’t be frightened. Nothing untoward. I promise.”

She snorted. “What exactly is your definition of untoward? I just rode a bottle for your wanking pleasure.”

“That’s all part of wine service. As is what comes next.”

“Next?”

“I didn’t bring it up last night because of how skittish you were, but there is more to it than stuffing that beautiful pussy of yours with a five-hundred-dollar bottle of Chardonnay.”

“Five hun—” She choked on the word. She’d been riding a bottle of Chardonnay that cost five hundred dollars. True, she knew nothing about wines or why one cost more than another—beyond age—but hadn’t known a single bottle could cost five hundred dollars.

“Yes. In honor of you and your first night. I thought it appropriate a five-hundred-dollar woman should ride a five-hundred-dollar bottle.” He wiggled his eyebrows. “Does it get you hot to think about it?”

“You’re insane.” She laughed. “You’re also joking.”

“I’m not. Call Franceska if you don’t believe me.” He gestured to the phone.

She looked at the bottle and then at him. “Five hundred dollars?”

“Yes.”

“Wow.” She’d never had anything that pricey between her legs. Her most expensive toy had barely broken the two hundred mark, and here she’d used a five-hundred-dollar bottle of Chardonnay to get off. “So what else is there? Sex, right?”

“If you want, but not what I had in mind right this instance.” He chuckled. “I’m not as spry as I used to be. I need a little more time to regain my stamina.”

“You look plenty spry to me.” She eyed his semi-erect dick. It hadn’t gone limp after he came. A few well-placed licks would probably have it hard again in an instant.

“Bless you, dear girl. You are good for my ego.” He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed the back. “Now then. After riding the bottle comes drinking the wine.”

“I’m on the clock.”

“Not you. Me. And a little shouldn’t hurt your performance.” He gazed into her eyes. “Unless you’re a lightweight.”

“No, but I don’t want someone to smell alcohol on my breath either.”

“True. True. But you won’t be drinking.”

“So why do you need me?”

He kissed her hand again and ran his tongue up to her wrist. “You’re my glass.”

Guest Post: Creating Flawed Characters for Novels by Angelina J. Windsor

Lately I have been studying the interesting problem of what makes for the most fascinating characters in novels. It’s not the goody-goody type we root for, but the ones that have to overcome some personal defect that makes them enduring and lovable in the end when they too see their shortcomings and make amends. If you tie this to your book’s external goal, then your book flows easily from scene to scene. Or at least that’s what I have gleamed from my research. So in preparation for writing a new fantasy novel tentatively titled, THE VALE, I have been thinking about my new character studies and what flaw to have them overcome (or not!) in the course of the book. So, in preparation I have compiled a possible list of glaring character flaws in classical books that maybe the right choice to give my novel huge stakes:

(1) Frankenstein: Victor is excessively curious which leads to his downfall.

(2) Harry Potter series: Harry has anger issues and is occasionally arrogant.

(3) Little Women: Jo March’s bluntness and hot temper causes all sorts of conflict.

(4) Macbeth: hubris and then paranoia.

(5) Cyrano De Bergerac: suffers self-doubt.

(6) Hamlet: indecisive and self-doubting.

(7) Percy Jackson and the Olympians: excessive personal loyalty.

(8) The Iliad: Agamemnon is excessively greedy.

(9) Harry Potter series: Tom Riddle has a fear of dying.

(10) The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: extreme depression and boredom.

Well, you get the idea. Now, I need to link one of these traits to the external journey of my character to give the reader a satisfying ending, especially if the character recognizes their faults and makes a valiant effort to overcome their inner faults and win the day. Because THE VALE will feature a female lead and heroine, I’m going with a need for Meadow to grow up and accept responsibility (also why she self-doubts that she can do what she’s being pushed to do) and will tie it to a journey of learning to self-sacrifice for the good of her people and herself when she goes on a hero’s quest. She’ll also need to learn to accept the help of others as she’s a bit arrogant. She’s also lovable! Don’t worry; her immaturity makes her fun-loving too. The journey feels like a good one to make for me so I think I will be easier to put out the monumental effort required to make her journey a good one!

What are your favorite character traits (good and bad) to work with?

Best, Angelina J. Windsor

Bio: If, to quote Robert Louis Stevenson, to forget oneself is to be happy, than I am most happy when I am immersed in the lives of my characters. Writing is all about giving your heart and soul to your storytelling. Obsessed with ideas and writing since I was one of those, the dreaded teenage poet, I spend time every day bringing worlds to life. For that journey I am grateful.  I write in multiple genres (multi-published) across the writing spectrum, from hard science fiction to sweet romance, though I am quite drawn to racy characters that have plenty of attitude to spare.  I can only hope my books touch your life albeit briefly in our busy world, and give you moments of absolute freedom as you fly with me to other worlds. Thanks for reading! And may all your stories have a happy-ever-after.

Bling! See Blog Tour for details.

Thanks so much for having me visit with y’all today, Mia! I am honoured that you have taken the time to share a sneak peek with fellow book lovers of my newest release: Seventh Son, from Ellora’s Cave. It’s the first adult historical novella planned in the series, and it looks to be a long series if the characters get their way! The book, set a thousand years ago, employs the myths of Avalon and Camelot at its heart. Having Merlin’s daughter Morganas (the sensuous antagonist) come alive in my story was such an incredible experience that I am delighted to share their journey. As I truly believe, “Having our voices heard in the wilderness is akin to sharing our souls.”

I am also pleased to announce the beginning of my book tour with Bewitching Book Tours scheduled to begin this coming Monday, September 7th and run for two weeks. There will be blogs on writing on all kinds of subjects pertinent to authors and some bling up for grabs so don’t forget to visit!

Wishing everyone a wonderful day. Hugs, Angel

Chapter One

Millions of spiritual creatures walk the Earth,

Unseen, both when we wake, and when we sleep.

John Milton, Paradise Lost, Book IV

Seventh Son by Angelina J. Windsor

Seventh Son by Angelina J. Windsor

A sound. A shadow. The breath stilled in my lungs. I froze mid-stride, icy tentacles of fear twisted around my desperate heart. I waited with every fiber of my body alert to my surroundings. This close to my goal I could not, nay, would not, be denied. A board creaked. The certainty I was not alone slithered through my mind. Evil surely awaited in the rising mist of the gloaming. It crept silently in over the water and beclouded the bottom of the river below. I had to hurry. I willed my body to move and lurched to the dark wooden railing, grasping it with stiffened fingers. Looking down, I could see the mist rising thicker and settling on the cold rushing water. I shuddered. I fancied the swirling mist forming itself into the searching fingers of death. A macabre welcome surely awaited me with absolution for my sins, an end to the agony that my life had become. I felt no hesitation in my mission.

A creak. Someone was on the bridge with me. I panicked and looked back towards the muffled footfalls and barely discernible creaks that echoed loudly in my head. The mist felt a living entity as it pursued me over the wide wooden planks and obscured my view. Wait. The deep voice pierced my head a split second before I threw a leg up over the wooden railing and hoisted myself upwards. No time to waste. Just a couple more seconds and my pain would be over forever. The devil would not win my soul.

Strong arms pulled me off balance and I tumbled off the railing against a hard body. I screeched with anger and agony, fighting the interference tooth and nail with my clenched fists. Food and shelter cost too dearly. I wanted no part of any rescue.

“Let me go! I want to die!”

“Hush, no one wants to die,” a low throaty voice soothed.

His body radiated heat and calmed my tormented mind. I found I wanted to stay within the confines of his arms and be warmed. What had happened to my death wish? Was a warm man enough to turn me away from a choice that had seemed inevitable and well-chosen only moments ago? That I had promised myself this very night. I couldn’t go back. No one could make me. I would not, could not let that happen, but still I did not struggle. I let myself be embraced by the stranger while my mind raced.

He held me for an indeterminable amount of time ’til my thoughts finally quieted. I could hear the water as it rushed over the rocks fifty feet below. I breathed in his fresh woodsy odor of pine and wood smoke and I began to recover. I become aware that he was far taller than I for my head was tucked in well below his chin. As he held me thoughts came into my mind, thoughts of not being hungry and not having been reduced to consider begging for a single hard crust of bread in exchange for sexual favors. Thoughts instead of what it felt like to have a full belly and lie in a warm bed. Luxuries I had not had thought existed for me anymore. The man’s arms were indeed magical if they could offer such comfort, fleeting though it might be.

“Are ye feeling better, lass?”

His lilting accent further soothed me as I recognized a fellow countryman.

“Aye,” I answered simply, surprised that I was. I should have pulled away but I found I could not. I wanted to stay in his embrace. My arms crept around him of their own volition and I hugged him closer. His breathing slowed while his lower body pressed hard into mine. I felt his manhood firm against my stomach and it sent the first real excitement I had ever felt for a man coursing through my body. I was alive. Life was still possible. My body wanted to celebrate its victory.

Excerpt

A few days later, the Hell’s Night club is full of lovely young mystical beauties and Landon sits at the bar stool, watching them dance. He taps his right hand fingers on the countertop, to the beat of the blaring rock music. He turns to the right and stares into the blue eyes of a black haired werewolf.

Yeah, I’ve danced with her and she’s lovely but no connection. He smiles at her as she sways to the music. She turns around and walks away, smiling.

A tall lovely Archaica walks towards Landon. Her hips sway softly and seductively with each graceful step, exposing a long sexy leg as the side slit parts up to her right hip. Her black fitted dress drapes softly over her curves. The sweetheart bodice pushes up her breasts, creating sexy cleavage and fullness. Her creamy breasts are showcased like pearls. The dress thin straps run up and over her shoulders, then weave down her back in a sexy pattern.

She smiles at him as she approaches the bar. She gazes into his eyes, smiling a small sexy smile. Fucking hell, yeah, I have to have a drink because I hate what I have to do. Geeze, this is unreal. Marybeth, Lisa, and Helen have tried but failed. He doesn’t want to go to the hotel room. I requested time to study him and I know that he has noticed me.

Landon, nods at her. Hell, she’s beautiful and I’ve been watching her for a few days. Oh hell, my body wants her badly.

His beautiful glowing green eyes glance down her gorgeous body. He clenches his jaw, and shifts his aching cock. He takes a drink of his whiskey, watching her approach.

Heather smiles confidently. She’s on a mission. She reaches him, and slides onto the stool. She turns to Mace the bartender. “I would like a Whiskey.”

Landon inhales deeply, exploding into blazing hunger. Fucking hell, her scent is simply intoxicating. Hell, she seizing my soul, and branding my blood. I feel her, I’m connecting and she’s knows it. Fucking hell, I’m so ready for her. I can’t fucking believe it! She’s my mate! She’s an Archaica! Well, she’s similar to a human.

Yeah, he’s a dragon, I can smell his amazing scent. Hell, he smells delicious. She closes her eyes and inhales his scent, shuddering. Hell, a delicious blazing surge flows all over my body.

Heather pushes her black hair over her shoulder with a shaky hand. What the hell does this mean? This is incredible and unreal. I need to drink this Whiskey because my body is on fire.

She takes a drink enjoying the burn as it flows down her throat, merging with her boiling blood. Hell, I’m so hot and my body is ready for him. I need him. I know it.

Landon turns towards her and he leans in close. He gazes into her beautiful huge violet eyes. I can’t believe it! She has incredible violet eyes.

He continues to gaze into her eyes gauging her feelings. “I know you feel it because I can feel your heart beat. I can smell your sweet intoxicating scent, and I know you’re ready for me.” He looks down at her sweet red heart-shaped lips.

Heather eyes open wider, startled. Her long black eye lashes spread over her eyebrows. “You don’t waste any time do you?” She bites her lower lip to control her amusement.

He looks up to gaze into her eyes, falling into her soul. “Honey, do I need to? You know it, you feel it, and your sweet pussy wants me. You’re my mate and I’m not going to fight it.” He leans a little closer to inhale her intoxicating, spicy arousal. Hell, my cock is going to explode. He closes his eyes and clenches his jaw.

She watches him clench his jaw, controlling his emotions. “Well, hell, tell me your name.”

He opens his glowing emerald green eyes, he nods at her. “Landon Dracostar. My beautiful mate, what’s your name?” He slowly takes her left hand in his. He rubs his thumb over the pulsing veins on her wrists. He closes his eyes, nodding, exuding his emerald green smoke with his bonding scent.

Heather shakes, takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. Oh hell, what should I do? Everything he said is so incredible and true. This is fucking unexpected. And what the hell. He’s my mate, and I’m supposed to hand him over? Hell no! What can I do? She urgently takes another swallow of her drink, finishing it off. She turns to the bartender for more.

Landon leans in closer to her, his face a few inches away from her left cheek. His hot breath causes a sweet shiver throughout her body. “Honey, your name. Please don’t torment me.”

She turns her head slightly to gaze into Landon’s glowing emerald-green eyes. Fucking wow. He’s gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. I never believed in mates but hell now I do. This is incredible! “Heather Mach.”

He nods, leans in closer, and whispers in her ear. “My hot mate, I love your name. I want to dance with you and hold you close.”

Heather shudders and nods, closing her eyes. Hell, I can’t walk away from him even if I want to. There’re two fucking titanic reasons forcing me to continue. He’s my mate and that damn General is watching me. I feel like a traitor for what I’m going to do. Yeah, I’m going to betray my mate. Hell, fucking hell, this hurts.

“Let’s dance, please.” Landon whispers in her ear. He inhales her delicious scent, shuddering. He pulls her hand, slides off the stool, and turns to gaze into her tormented, confused eyes. “Honey, it’s ok. You’re my mate.”

Heather blinks her yes, rapidly, to stop the tears then nods. What in sweet deity am I going to do? If I refuse they won’t only imprison me but also get someone else to seduce him. I’m going crazy here.

She slides off the stool and follows him onto the dance floor. She walks into his arms, sighing. Oh hell, this is simply heaven. She trembles as he pulls her closer to him.

This is incredible, fucking incredible. I’m going to take her home in a few flashes. I can’t wait much longer. He leans in to rest his head next to hers. He closes his eyes, and turns his head to rest his lips against her neck.

Heather slides her arms up his shoulders to his neck. She wraps her arms around his neck to pull him closer. They sway in sync to the music. For a few moments, they enjoy the new experience and knowledge of being mates.

“Landon, what are you doing here on the earth realm?” She whispers into his ear. She buries her face at the base of his neck, inhaling his delicious scent and trembles.

Hell, what can I say? That I was sick of fucking around and I was desperate to meet my mate. “Honey, honestly, I’m taking a break from my duties. What about you? Aren’t you far from home? Are you working on a mission?”

Heather closes her eyes as she gasps for air, desperate to remain confident and casual. Her heart beat increases, the pulsating vein on her neck evidence of her distress.

Fucking hell, she’s totally out of control. I can feel her erratic heartbeat at the vein against my lips.

“Landon, yes. I’m on a mission. I’m the Gliderspike Flash obit engineer.” She inhales his scent, shuddering. Fucking wow, I’m so stoked with his scent. I so wish that we were meeting under different circumstances. Fucking wow! My heart feels heavy. It’s agonizing to think of what I have to do, and I’m consumed by guilt. She closes her eyes tight to stop the tears.

Landon moves his lips near her left ear. “Honey, it’s ok. There isn’t anything to worry about. We’re mates and I’m not going to let you go. Heather, you’re my eternal mate.” He releases his bonding scent with his emerald green smoke, surrounding her.

Heather turns her face into his neck, inhaling his bonding scent. I love his scent.

“I want to kiss you.” He holds her closer. I know she can feel my throbbing cock.

She nods, moves her head slightly to allow him access to her lips. She moans into his mouth when he takes a deep searching kiss.

Hell yes, fucking yes. She completes me, my soul. And my dragon is ecstatic. This is what I’ve been searching for.

He devours her mouth, releasing his bonding scent with his emerald green smoke. His tongue sucks hers and explores every little crevice.

Amazing, simply amazing. Hell, his scent is drugging me. I can feel his hot cock burning against my pussy. Hell, yes I want him. Heather pulls back, a little dazed, and gazes into his beautiful passionate, glowing emerald-green eyes.

“Not here.” She whispers, searching his eyes. “Take me home.”

Landon clenches his jaw, nods. “Honey, let’s walk outside.” Fucking hell, I have to make sure that my aura disappears instantly. I don’t want anyone tracking me home. I don’t like this feeling I have. I trust her but something is off. My gut feeling is never off.

She closes her eyes, nods. Yeah, I know that it will be difficult for the General and his warriors to track. I’m going to make it difficult for the General to catch my mate. I’m don’t know what they want him for.

He takes her hand and laces their fingers, then pulls her close to his side. They walk across the room weaving around the dance floor, out into the hallway, and out into the dense mist.

He stops outside the door and smiles down at her. “Honey, I’m not letting you go.” He leans down to kiss her as he holds her tight. Hell, yeah. Our auras will merge into one, making it difficult to track.

He continues to kiss her deeply and holds her tight as he teleports to several different areas around the vicinity of Hell’s Night club. He teleports around the city, and finally he teleports into his room.

Fucking yes. She’s here in my room and soon will be in my bed. My mate is finally in my arms.

“There are things that go bump in the night, Mr. MacMillian. It’s my job to bump back.”

Private investigator Jesper MacMillian was sure he’d seen it all. After all, in a city like San Francisco, strange is what’s for breakfast. Following a long recovery after a horrific accident, his life is finally the way he wants it- or at least, close enough. The only monsters on his radar are the ones that keep him awake at night.

All that changes the day he meets Lena Alan.

Before MacMillian has a chance to brace for impact, Lena drags him into a world where monsters aren’t just real, they’re hiding in plain sight. Suddenly, everything he knows is suspect, starting with his current case. For Lena, a medium since childhood, it’s just another day at the office.

For MacMillian, it’s the beginning of the end of everything he thinks he knows.

Excerpt:

Lena snapped her fingers in front of his face. “Hey. Earth to Jimmy. I don’t host pity parties here. Maybe your grandma was on to something, maybe not. Regardless, I think we have a bigger problem.”

He gave her a blank look.

She rolled her eyes. “Somebody killed you, you lug.”

Jimmy grimaced. “Right.”

“Any idea who it was?”

He thought for a moment. “No. Never saw their face. Don’t even remember what happened, really. Not until, well, you know.” He winced down at his chest.

Lena fought back a shudder. “Yeah, I’d probably try to forget that, too. But think for a second. If you can tell me where your body is, maybe we can figure out who killed you. At the very least, I can get it back to your family. They’ll probably want to give you a proper send-off, right?”

“Yeah.” His eyes started to shimmer. “Yeah, they probably will.” He paused, and his gaze sharpened. “Hey, you can give them a message for me, right?”

“Sure.” Lena pulled her robe tighter. “I could do that.”

“Just, I dunno, tell my folks I love them. And tell my brothers to quit giving our dále such a hard time. And maybe you could tell my mamío-” He stopped. A confused look flitted across his features.

Lena waited. “Yes?”

Jimmy’s lips parted. “What the…”

Lena took a step forward. “Jimmy?”

But he wasn’t looking at her anymore. He stared off into the Veil, mesmerized by something she couldn’t see. Then his eyes went wide. Horror infused his face. He dropped into a crouch and covered his head with his hands. “No! Go away! I don’t want- just leave me alone!”

Lena strengthened her shields. At the same time, she reached out. Energy was all over the room: Jimmy’s, hers, even energy from the last couple who had lived there. She could feel it when she focused, crackling all around her like a broken net of superheated thread.

She gathered each individual strand, willed the energy to flow into her. Her hands started to tingle. “Jimmy? Just stay close to me. I can protect-”

Jimmy’s eyes rolled back in his head. He let out a shriek that chilled her to her core, and disappeared.
