In the New Mexico desert evil is stirring. A lost man must protect everything he holds dear from the oncoming storm and a mysterious woman is the key.

A decade after being forced out of the priesthood, Nico Lynch spends his days drinking himself into an early grave and his nights hunting demons. His world is turned upside down when he is asked to help a local Striga Coven.

Abby shouldn’t have survived, but she did and that’s turning out to be one hell of a problem for Nico. The world he lives in is black and white. There has always been a clear definition between good and evil, right and wrong. Every moment he spends with Abby challenges him to see the world differently.

Mysterious forces have brought them together, pitting them against a demon army. Nico will either be the savior of mankind or the catalyst of the apocalypse and Abby’s fate rests in his hands.

Pre-Order: Sacrifice by Mia Bishop (and Update)

2x6_bookmarkI’ve had another set-back with releasing Sacrifice, but as it turns out the set-back ended up being beneficial. I had planned on releasing it at the end of June, but a few weeks ago I threw out my back and ended up with a pinched sciatic nerve. The first week was unbearable. I wasn’t able to do anything and was sick from the pain. The thought of sitting in my chair and working on edits was the last thing on my mind. Week two was shaping up to be worse, but I managed to get in to an acupuncturist and by the time I left after the first session my pain had greatly diminished (but it was still painful). This caused me to run behind in my deadline of getting my manuscript to my editor for final edits.

After 3 sessions with the acupuncturist I am now able to sit for about 20 minutes at a time, so editing it getting back under way. But there is no way I’d be able to meet my June 30th deadline, so after much thought and discussion with my writing partner A.L. Kessler, I took some time to step back, and realized that I needed to let go of this idea of releasing in June and roll with the punches.

I pushed it almost a full 60 days back and this gives me time to carefully finish a couple of scenes that needed to be added, get it to my editor-and give her time enough to do the final edits, it also gives me time to get my cover, start a Thunderclap campaign, make Sacrifice available for pre-order, and do some proper marketing. It also allows me time to save money for a bit of swag for readers and also I can run a couple of giveaways while I wait.

So here is my big news, Sacrifice is now available for pre-order on Amazon. I’m doing a pre-order sale so if you order it between now and August 17th you’ll get it for $1.99. The book goes live on August 18th and the price will go up.

Here’s a couple of things I’d like to leave you with:

      1. Release Date: August 18, 2016
      2. ARC’s will be available in July for anyone who is interested in them.
      3. Sacrifice pre-order sale on Amazon only starting today! <Click here>
      4. I’m running a Facebook giveaway on my author page this week to give someone a 99¢ ebook on me. (Amazon GC)
      5. I have book trailer out! Here it is:
      6. I’ll be announcing new gift card giveaways on my Facebook Author Page and in my newsletter so don’t forget to subscribe to both.

Thanks for all of the support! I really appreciate it!

Revelations Update

2x6_bookmark

Sacrifice is in the hands of Beta Readers now. I had some amazing people offer to read this story over before it hits final edits and I’m so grateful for their help. I sent off the files this weekend and so far things look like they are staying on schedule.

Since I’m waiting for the feedback from my BRs I’m spending my free time working on a marketing plan, planning my release day, and trying to keep up on social media while also trying to do a crash course in InDesign and formatting.

Other than that, there isn’t much to report. I thought I’d post a couple of teasers I have for Sacrifice just to fill the time until the release.

Enjoy!

The Editing Roller Coaster

What a ride this has been. It’s taken almost two years to complete this project but I am finally near the finish line! Only one chapter left to go. It’s so exciting for me. This story has taken me forever, or at least that’s what it’s felt like. The editing has been the hardest part. And when I say hardest part, I mean it was a giant beast I wasn’t sure if I could slay. He was just going to lay waste to the townfolks and I was left sitting here in my chair watching my imaginary world burn to the ground. The edits were brutal, but absolutely necessary.

2x6_bookmark

My story went from 80,000 to over 100,000 words, which makes it the longest story I’ve ever written. It’s been an amazing journey seeing how my characters grew from such extensive and intense rewrites. All of that hard work is thanks to my editor, she has poured over every chapter with her red inked-fine toothed comb. Some days I bitched, some days I cried, other days I pushed my computer aside and declared “I’m not editing any more! I can’t do it!” but eventually I’d calm down and pick it all back up and slog through more rewrites. Every time I reworked a scene I would find out something new that I hadn’t realized before, both about myself as a writer and about my characters. This process, while exhausting, has been great for my story and I’m so excited to be a little closer to sharing it with everyone.

My next step is to send it off to Beta Readers. This week I’m going back over the entire manuscript to double/triple check for spelling mistakes and then hopefully it will be in my two wonderful Beta Reader’s hands by Friday. With any luck by next week I might have another update for you!

It Happened at the Book Fest

Two Books. One Wild Event.

On sale February 14 thru 23!!!
Welcome to the Lake Morgan Book Festival!
Each year, Mr. Denton McCray and his eclectic team of volunteers hosts the most anticipated, and the most mysterious, book fest in a cozy, lakeside community near the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Though many accounts have highlighted strange occurrences, readers are drawn to the book fest each year by the hundreds, and authors are thrilled to receive a hand-delivered invitation to participate.
The season is autumn. The day is overcast. There’s an electric crackle in the air that foreshadows the arrival of approaching storms. Tops of trees sway under the weight of winds that bear more than the threat of rain.  The book fest takes place in an old building that once served as a high school.  It has been decades since students roamed the halls … living students, that is.

The Lake Morgan Book Fest opens at 6 PM and runs until midnight.  So, grab a cup of hot tea, and dive in!

Zombies… When Abigail Collins heard Nick’s theory on their current case, she knew he had to be crazy, but when a zombie shows up in her apartment she has no choice but to believe him. A renegade necromancer bent on manipulating witches and murdering innocent people runs amok in town and Abby and Nick have to stop them before more bodies pile up. Further complicating matters two PIB agents step onto the scene, claiming a link between their case and Abby’s. To top it all off, blood starved vampires are causing chaos in the city. It’s just another day for PIB Agent Abigail Collins, full of blood, monsters, and explosions.

A woman in a dress dress walks through the foggy forest.

“Abby?”
I heard Nick’s voice. I turned to find him standing behind me, also drenched from the rain. “Yeah, what are you doing here? I thought you lived on the other end of town?”
“I was out and realized I needed to grab something before heading home.” He shrugged. “What about you?”
I took the hood of my jacket off. “Apparently I’m taking care of a lost cat until I can find the owner.”
His eyes widened. “A cat?”
“Yes, a Sphinx. You know, a naked one.”
His eyes got bigger and I laughed. “He was outside in the rain, I wasn’t going to leave him there.”
“Maybe he’s your familiar.” He said, “But just be cautious.”
I raised a brow. “He’s safe and means no harm.”
“How do you know that?”
“Because I made sure to put up a protection spell on my house last year after the Cult waltzed right in, oh and after Michelle waltzed in too. I decided it was the best type of defense.”
He pressed his lips together and gave me a disapproving gaze. “You never told me the Cult paid you a personal visit.”
Aw crap, I’d screwed up. “It doesn’t matter. It wasn’t any of your business anyways. The point is that they backed off.”
“You’re just a magnet for trouble, Abigail.”
We walked further into the store and I had no idea why he was staying next to me, but I let it go. “Don’t I know it?” I laughed. “You’ve gotten the mild end of it. Just wait, if Boss Man makes you shadow me much longer you could start to see the really weird shit.”
“For our sake, I hope we only have to partner until the end of this case. Because it’s only a matter of time until your bad luck starts to rub off on me.”
A shriek came through the nearly empty store. Nick and I both cursed and headed towards the sound. People were running the other direction, one screamed ‘vampire’ as they passed us.
Well, crap. Nick and I drew our guns and continued to where the people were running from. Sure enough, a vampire stood there with his lips sealed to the woman’s neck. His red gaze flickered to me.
“He’s blood starved.” I told Nick and we both moved closer. We took aim. “Let the woman go.” I didn’t have to technically warn the vampire, but I wanted to give him a chance. Reasoning with a blood starved vampire was kind of like reasoning with a toddler, they may not realize what they are doing is wrong and need to be told to stop.
He ignored me and went back to the woman. His blond hair fell in front of his eyes and he started to turn. I didn’t hesitate. I shot his leg. I couldn’t shoot him in the head without risking the woman, so the leg was going to have to do.
He snarled and threw the lady away. Nick went to her without me having to prompt him. The vampire turned his gaze to me and rushed me. The problem with vampires was that they moved fast. Inhumanly so. I took two more shots in hopes of slowing him down, but I ended up pinned to the floor.
He bared his fangs at me. I didn’t have any desire to be a meal. I brought my hand up and slammed the butt of my gun into his temple. He reared back and I scurried away and shot the moment I could. Blood and vampire brains exploded all over the floor and me. The body fell and I wiped the blood off my face and stood. “What the fuck.”
“Don’t put your gun away Abby.” Nick called. “Two more!”
Seriously, two more? What the hell was going on tonight? Buy two get one free on blood-starved vampires?
