Playlist: Sacrifice by Mia Bishop

Sacrifice by Mia Bishop

The first inspiration I had for Nico and Abby was while we were driving home from Denver a few years ago and I was listening to a song called Blood Like Lemonade by Morcheeba, but the real meat and potatoes of Sacrifice came on another trip to Denver when Hozier’s Take Me To Church came on. Boom! Inspiration struck and I had a story. On that same trip I heard Ghost by Ella Henderson and the entire story arc for another character who appears in Book Two started to form (More on that later as I’m still writing book two and I don’t want to give away any spoilers). Here’s my playlist for Sacrifice, which started out being called Dusk and in the end was changed to a much more fitting title.

  1. Hozier – Take Me To Church
  2. Gin Wigmore – Kill of the Night
  3. Awolnation – SAIL
  4. Sam Smith – Stay With Me
  5. Gin Wigmore – Stealing Happiness
  6. The Pretty Reckless – Heaven Knows
  7. Imagine Dragons – Demons
  8. Fall Out Boy – Light ‘Em Up
  9. Max Frost – Nice and Slow
  10. Florence And The Machine – I’m not calling you a liar
  11. Bear in Heaven – Sinful Nature
  12. Zeale feat. Patricia Lynn –  Hope Dies
  13. Gin Wigmore – Black Sheep
  14. Zella Day – Sacrifice
  15. Ruelle – Monsters
  16. Morcheeba – Blood Like Lemonade

About Sacrifice:

In the New Mexico desert, evil is stirring. A lost man must protect everything he holds dear from the oncoming storm and a mysterious woman is the key.

A decade after being forced out of the priesthood, Nico Lynch spends his days drinking himself into an early grave and his nights hunting demons. His world is turned upside down when he is asked to help a local Striga Coven.

Abby shouldn’t have survived, but she did and that’s turning out to be one hell of a problem for Nico. The world he lives in is black and white. There has always been a clear definition between good and evil, right and wrong. Every moment he spends with Abby challenges him to see the world differently.

Mysterious forces have brought them together, pitting them against a demon army. Nico will either be the savior of mankind or the catalyst of the apocalypse and Abby’s fate rests in his hands.

Character Profile: The Striga from Sacrifice

I’ve take great care to not include any spoilers, but if I’ve missed any I apologize in advance.)File folder with blank label for text

Important information from The Order of Eternal Mercy:
The Striga, and most importantly their leader/mother Arveda, are ruthless magick users who see men as nothing more than walking/talking ATMs. Arveda’s plans have yet to be revealed to The Order of Eternal Mercy, but we are keeping tabs on several of their coven at the moment.
Most of the women live in Dusk, NM and are currently working with the excommunicated priest, Nico Lynch, and his accomplice, Abigail Stine, to stop the out flow of demons who are threatening mankind’s existence. Although as we’ve seen in the past Arveda has been known to double cross even her closest ally if it benefits her and her coven.

Pre-Order: Sacrifice by Mia Bishop (and Update)

2x6_bookmarkI’ve had another set-back with releasing Sacrifice, but as it turns out the set-back ended up being beneficial. I had planned on releasing it at the end of June, but a few weeks ago I threw out my back and ended up with a pinched sciatic nerve. The first week was unbearable. I wasn’t able to do anything and was sick from the pain. The thought of sitting in my chair and working on edits was the last thing on my mind. Week two was shaping up to be worse, but I managed to get in to an acupuncturist and by the time I left after the first session my pain had greatly diminished (but it was still painful). This caused me to run behind in my deadline of getting my manuscript to my editor for final edits.

After 3 sessions with the acupuncturist I am now able to sit for about 20 minutes at a time, so editing it getting back under way. But there is no way I’d be able to meet my June 30th deadline, so after much thought and discussion with my writing partner A.L. Kessler, I took some time to step back, and realized that I needed to let go of this idea of releasing in June and roll with the punches.

I pushed it almost a full 60 days back and this gives me time to carefully finish a couple of scenes that needed to be added, get it to my editor-and give her time enough to do the final edits, it also gives me time to get my cover, start a Thunderclap campaign, make Sacrifice available for pre-order, and do some proper marketing. It also allows me time to save money for a bit of swag for readers and also I can run a couple of giveaways while I wait.

So here is my big news, Sacrifice is now available for pre-order on Amazon. I’m doing a pre-order sale so if you order it between now and August 17th you’ll get it for $1.99. The book goes live on August 18th and the price will go up.

Here’s a couple of things I’d like to leave you with:

      1. Release Date: August 18, 2016
      2. ARC’s will be available in July for anyone who is interested in them.
      3. Sacrifice pre-order sale on Amazon only starting today! <Click here>
      4. I’m running a Facebook giveaway on my author page this week to give someone a 99¢ ebook on me. (Amazon GC)
      5. I have book trailer out! Here it is:
      6. I’ll be announcing new gift card giveaways on my Facebook Author Page and in my newsletter so don’t forget to subscribe to both.

Thanks for all of the support! I really appreciate it!

Revelations Update

2x6_bookmark

Sacrifice is in the hands of Beta Readers now. I had some amazing people offer to read this story over before it hits final edits and I’m so grateful for their help. I sent off the files this weekend and so far things look like they are staying on schedule.

Since I’m waiting for the feedback from my BRs I’m spending my free time working on a marketing plan, planning my release day, and trying to keep up on social media while also trying to do a crash course in InDesign and formatting.

Other than that, there isn’t much to report. I thought I’d post a couple of teasers I have for Sacrifice just to fill the time until the release.

Enjoy!
